Resident Evil 4 originally released in 2005 for the Playstation 2. The remake was released in 2023 for multiple consoles. Resident Evil 4 is a survival horror game that is played from the third-person over-the-shoulder perspective. With this game the series began to lean into it's action side.
Players control Leon Kennedy as he battles through a cult in rural spain in order to save the daughter of the President of the United States, Ashley Graham. In some sequences the player controls Ashley, and in others the player must protect Ashley from various enemies. The remake recieved an updated plot and modernized gameplay in line with the other makes.
